BRBLA (Baton Rouge
Bengali Association ) Presents |
|||
| ANUBHUTI (The Inner feeling) A trio performance of Indian classical dance, percussions and strings |

|
The music of India is one of the oldest musical
traditions in the world. It is more of a spiritual experience rather than mere
entertainment for the enjoyment of the senses.
Unlike Western classical music, there is no fixed notation for the Indian musicians to follow but only a loose structure of notes. The rest is left on the musician to improvise at the very moment
it is being performed.
Thus each musical performance is unique
and creates an experience of presence and meditation
for the
listener.
Indian classical dances are dances of the mind and soul and are
extremely traditional.
The best way to experience Indian Classical music is to attend a concert. BRBLA (Baton Rouge Bengali Association) is very happy to present this live performance in Baton Rouge by musicians and dancer who are performing all over the world Click here to BUY TICKET for $10 only You can securely by tickets using your credit cards or paypal account by clicking the link below. Print the receipt to present at the gate. The instruments chosen for solo performances and as accompaniment for the dance performance are Tabla (percussion) and Sarangi (string)
Tabla (right) is the most prominent Indian percussion instrument.
Kathak is among the six major classical dances of India and one of the
most dynamic theater arts in the world. The word Kathak is derived from katha, meaning "the art of storytelling." It is also synonymous with the
community of artists known as Kathakas whose hereditary profession it
was to narrate history while entertaining. With dance, music and mime
these storytellers of ancient India would bring to life the great
scriptures and epic so ancient times, especially the great Indian epics
- the Mahabharata and the Ramayana - and the Puranas of Sanskrit
literature. Alokparna
